City. This lucky retailer will be receiving a $1 million retailer bonus just for selling the winning ticket. The jackpot is the 10th largest jackpot in American lottery history, according to the L.A. Times.

A single winning Powerball ticket matching all six numbers has been sold in California and will claim an estimated $447.8 million jackpot.

According to CNN, the chances of winning Powerball are about one in 292 million, which translates to 0.0000003 percent.

Powerball – based on lottery tickets sold for $2 apiece – is played in 44 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Powerball’s jackpot hit a record $1.6 billion in January 2016, when three winning tickets were sold in Florida, California and Tennessee.

“And it feels good”, said Matthew Alberre, co-owner of the Marietta Liquor & Deli in Sun City.

The store is at 27985 Bradley Road in the Sun City community in the city of Menifee. The lump sum for this jackpot is around $300 million. “That’s the soonest they’ll be able to claim their prize”, California Lottery said in a statement.

This big score will come in handy for Alberee’s family, after his was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis earlier this year. Both prize amounts would be before taxes are deducted.

Earlier in June, Missouri saw even longer delays in identifying a Powerball victor after Dennis Shmigelsky carried around his winning $50,000 ticket for two months.

The ticket was sold at a liquor store in Pawtucket. The jackpot has not been won in 20 drawings since April 5.

Menifee has about 89,000 residents.
