Academies Enterprise Trust, which runs Bexleyheath Academy said: “In the event of a possible fire immediate action is always taken to evacuate the building, and the site if necessary”.

According to a joint statement from the council and the block’s developer, Eastend Homes: “All measures recommended by the Fire Brigade are in place and in addition EastendHomes has immediately introduced further measures to meet DCLG recommendations and ensure the continued safety of residents”.

Arconic’s announcement came as the government announced that cladding material from 75 buildings in 26 local authorities had failed combustibility tests.

Police identified five-year-old Isaac Paulos on Tuesday as the youngest victim of the Grenfell blaze, who they said died of inhaling fire and smoke fumes.

Spalding’s Johnson Community Hospital is undergoing fire safety checks this week as part of an internal review that started before London’s Grenfell Tower disaster.

UK Communities and Local Government Secretary Sajid Javid has issued an urgent call for all councils to send in samples of cladding from tall buildings.

A Fire protection vehicle stands in front of Bray Tower, part of the Chalcots Estate in the borough of Camden, in London, Monday, June 26, 2017. He was such a good boy who was loved by his friends and family. “We will all miss our kind, energetic, generous little boy”.

His body was found on the 13th floor and he was identified by his dental records, Westminster Coroner’s Court was told.

Meanwhile, the USA firm that supplied cladding used on Grenfell Tower says it has ended global sales of the product for use in high-rise blocks. He is among 18 victims to have been formally identified in the fire, the worst in London in decades; the British police have said the death toll is likely to rise. In all, 72 people are believed to be affected.

A spokesperson from Bexley council added: “We have written to all contractors that have carried out recent expansion works in our schools to ask them whether, in light of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the work they undertook requires any testing or remedial works”.

In a statement late Monday, Arconic acknowledged it supplied Reynobond PE to a fabricator which used it as a component on Grenfell Tower’s cladding system.

“You may use an element of the building that you know can be combustible in certain circumstances but you then say we put in these other factors that mitigate it”, he said.
