House Speaker Paul Ryan has paid a visit to wounded Majority Whip Steve Scalise at the hospital.

GOP Representative Steven Scalise was one of the people shot.

“I want to take a moment to send our thoughts, love, and prayers to Congressman Steve Scalise and his entire family”, he said.

“The congressman’s status remains critical”, Jack Sava, the director of trauma at the Washington Hospital Center, told reporters.

A single rifle wound caused “substantial damage” to Scalise’s internal organs and blood loss, his doctor explained Friday.

Sava said infection remains a risk. They also signed oversized cards sending well wishes to those who were injured in the shooting, including Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana.

Another attendee, Dana Moore, said, “I’m tried of seeing all the division and everything”. Once it has lodged in bone or muscle, “it’s not going to do anything”.

This year, lawmakers turned baseball players, will take the field in front of more fans than usual. The hospital said Scalise will undergo additional operations and “will be in the hospital for some time”.

The FBI recovered a cellphone, computer, and camera from Hodgkinson’s van and was examining them for evidence, the statement said. “I think that his risk of death right now is substantially lower than when he came in. he was as critical as you can be when he came in”. He is now sedated and awaiting another surgery in the next 48 hours. He said in a recorded message before it began that everyone was playing hard for Scalise.

Two Capitol police officers, David Bailey and Crystal Griner, as well as House Republican aide Zack Barth were injured, but have been released from hospital. The man calmly asked which party’s lawmakers were practicing and Duncan told him they were the Republicans.

“By playing tonight we are showing the world that we will not be intimidated by threats, acts of violence or assaults on our democracy”, said President Donald Trump, appearing on the park’s giant screen but not attending.

The Democrats won 12-2, with the GOPs’ only runs occuring in the first inning. “So we all owe Steve a big, big thank you”.

Hodgkinson – an IL home inspector who had been living out of his van near the park – had a social media page filled with criticism of Republicans and the Trump administration.

Hodgkinson contacted both of his state’s Democratic senators frequently, always through email links on their websites, spokesmen said Friday.

Underscoring the day’s mood, the Rev. Patrick Conroy, the House chaplain, opened the day by seeking divine forgiveness “when we seem to forget that words matter and can become seeds that will bring bitter harvest”. Griner, who is still in the hospital, was shot in the ankle. On Friday, Bailey was spotted back in the Capitol building, on crutches and out of uniform, accepting congratulations from fellow officers. Richmond, who plays for the Democratic team, said he had visited the hospital multiple times.
