Draymond Green and Rudy Gobert highlight the NBA’s All-Defensive teams

The guard won the first award Monday night during the first NBA Awards show that was hosted by Drake.

The NBA will announce the winners of its individual awards in a live TV show at 8 p.m. Monday. This was Gobert’s first selection to the All-Defensive First Team.

Mike D’Antoni was then voted Coach of the Year, the second time he has won the award.

Golden State’s Draymond Green and San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard occupied each of the First Team forward spots; L.A. Clippers’ guard Chris Paul and Houston’s Patrick Beverley were the two First Team guards; and Utah’s Rudy Gobert was named First Team center.

In addition to Roberson, the Second Team featured Tony Allen of the Memphis Grizzlies, Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans and Giannis Antetokounmpo of th Milwaukee Bucks. He also averaged a career-highs of 25.5 points and 3.5 assists to go along with 5.8 rebounds in 33.4 minutes. Green was the leading vote-getter with 99 first-place votes, with one voter not placing the Golden State Warrior on either of the two All-Defensive teams.

Green’s versatility has made him one of the NBA’s top defenders, as he averaged 7.9 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.4 blocks per game while also ranking second in the National Basketball Association in individual defensive rating (99.1). The other three are George Gervin, Robinson and Duncan. He was also a 2nd team pick during the 2014-’15 season. The Spurs have now been represented on the NBA All-Defensive Team in 27 of the last 30 seasons.
