LeBron James would like MJ and Magic as 3-on-3 teammates

“Well, it’s a two-sided question because for me personally – I don’t know”, said James.

When asked about his interest in participating in the new event, which has officially been marked down for an appearance at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, LeBron emphasized his preference was playing in full-strength basketball games. “So, no, I don’t really – you guys want one more question before I leave and not see you guys for a long time?” I stay out of the 1-on-1 matchups during practice, the 2-on-2 and the 3-on-3s. “So probably not. I probably won’t be a part of the three-on-three matchup that it has to offer”. With this team basically capped out and without much flexibility, it’s not going to be easy.

Though somebody would probably get mad if he said he needs the offseason to rest, most would understand if he just admitted he wanted to manage his workload closely.

Basketball fans will have a lot more to look forward to in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

“I think it’s great for basketball”, he said. “For us to be able to add another category to the Olympics, another basketball category, I think it’s pretty great“. The 3-on-3 basketball will have eight teams for men and women, with 64 athletes.

After losing in the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors, LeBron James had some interesting comments for the media.

While the new event may not have NBA guys competing, count Breanna Stewart as one WNBA player who would love the chance to play in both basketball events if possible. “I’d be happy to”, she said.

James won gold medals with Team USA in 2008 and 2012 and a bronze in 2004. There will be a 12-second shot clock and a 10-minute game clock with the game being played in half court where teams will have to “take it out” beyond the 2-point line before each possession.

LeBron James says he’d pick Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan, while JR Smith said he’d rock with Kyrie Irving and Kyle Korver.
