Several pigs escaped after a semi-truck crashed on Interstate 45 south of Dallas Thursday morning.
The semi truck carrying almost 200 pigs crashed into the center median of I-45 in Wilmer at about 6:30 a.m. and sent pigs scattering onto the road.
Both sides of I-45 in the area were shut down as the pigs scattered on the road.
Texas officials did no say whether any of the pigs were harmed during the crash. One group made a break for it and were found half-a-mile away before being ushered back by police.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt. “The biggest challenge we’ve had so far was just corraling the pigs, keeping ’em from getting into oncoming traffic and getting run over”, Lt. Eric Pon told Dallas station KTVT. As of 11:30 a.m., the southbound lanes remain closed.
